What is your definition of an immigrant?

Somene who migrates to another country. Some reasons why an immigrant would want to leave their country, are maybe because they might not like the rights they had or they might of had a lot of disagreeing with the choices there government made. Another reason they might have left there country is because they got payed very little for the long hours they worked, in comparison to the country they want to go to. My mom left Mexico because she didn't like the way our government was running there country.
Some things that out country has to offer in comparison to other countries is probably the fact that our country is a lot more stable and secure. Also because the government makes lawsthat really help our country stay in order, and they care and try to do the best they can to make this country better for everyone.As well as the way were payed and treated. Immigration has affected the US because now that they all live here theres more types of culture. It helps the US because it helps keep the economy moving by filling low-wage jobs, and theres a lack of true ethnic diversity. Theres also a lot more languages, and sometimes that could be a good or bad thing depending on the way you look at it. Immigrants also affect our laws because, like I said a lack of true ethnic diversity which means they could be lying about almost anything which causes problems for the US.
My connection to immigrants is close because my mom was an immigrant, a couple year after she got here in the United States, she became a citizen and my dad already being a citzen helped my mom a lot. Other than my mom and grandparents, I'm not really I know any other immigrants. I feel after hearing someone slose to me talk about what they went threw to get here, gives me a way better understanding on why someone from other country would want to come to the United States.
