Part I
The purpose of this exhibit was to learn more in debt about immigration. I found interesting, one thing I found interesting was that Ruth Handler was the inventor of the “Barbie Doll” Another thing I found interesting was that George Washington made a letter which stated that “No government can be racist” As you can see I found many things interesting on this field trip. I also learned that immigrant that came to the United States often, most likely had to sleep with two families in a two bedroom apartment, in New York. I’ve always wondered where and when we got the Statue of Liberty, and I found out it was a gift from France on July 4th, 1884. Overall I enjoyed going to the exhibit I learned a lot.
Part II
The Picture that I liked at the exhibit was the called “Mother and daughter from India, International Airport New Immigrant Arrivals 2000. The reason I liked this picture was because I thought that it said a lot about what a immigrant feels when coming to America. In the picture there is an Indian woman holding the hand of a young girl. They both looked tired and in a way relieved. I also noticed that they didn’t have that many things, which also shows me that when coming from another country you can’t bring much on such a long journey.
Quote
“The greatest thing I hope for in my life is to become a successful person and to have a family and friends to support me, not to be looked at by just the color of my skin but who I am inside.”
I picked this quote because I liked what its saying. I think this a great way to express what an immigrate wants when coming to the United States. I liked this quote also because you can also relate this to just regular citizens that might feel there getting rejected because of there skin color and not just immigrants. I can also relate to this quote because I’ve met people who treat me differently or look at me different because of my race.
